Having kids has ruined my movie going outings. In fact, I can’t remember that last time I went to see a movie at the box office. In self-defense, my husband and I bought the big screen plasma last year. This year we invested in the surround sound system.
I’m no audiophile, so I looked on Amazon.com and found the Energy RC-Micro 5.1 Surround Speaker.
The first thing that impressed me was the sleek design of the entire unit. These little black boxes where much more attractive than their big, box ancestors. They were small and less obtrusive as well.
Surround speakers can be expensive. The Energy RC-Micro is no exception. It is on the high end of all the systems we considered.
Amazon.com offered an amazing sale price that was hard to pass up.
That’s why we opted for the complete set. The Energy RC-Micro can be bought in individual pieces in order to customize the system. We have a large room, so space was not a problem for us.
The Energy RC-Micro can be floor or wall-mounted. Since we have kids who are most attracted to the most expensive and breakable item in a room, we mounted ours on the wall. This is where reading the manual comes in handy.
We had some sound problems after we installed the speakers in corners. The crashing asteroids in Armageddon reverberated through the room in an unpleasant way. After reading the instructions, we discovered that corners are the worst place for the speakers. My husband isn’t going to let me forget this err anytime soon.
For a small system, the Energy RC-Micro has great sound quality. They have really designed this system to minimize distortion. No sound system can completely eliminate this problem, but the Energy RC-Micro was an obvious improvement over the other systems we tried out.
Whether we are watching animated, talking animals or a big action flick, the whole family can enjoy our own comfy theater. If anyone spills popcorn, I know that the dog has it covered.
